I am pleased to announce that Griselda Madrigal Lara has been hired as the PUERTA & CAASE Advisor.Gris identifies as a 1.5 generation immigrant; she graduated from Santa Rosa Junior College (AA- Social and Behavioral Sciences), Sonoma State University (BA- Chicano and Latino Studies), University of Texas at Austin (MA- Mexican American and Latina/o Studies), and most recently received a yoga teaching certificate from SRJC. She is a writer, yoga instructor, and now a CAASE & PUERTA Advisor.
Gris is passionate about holistic wellness and creating opportunities for underserved communities to thrive. In her two years at Sonoma State, she co-founded the Undocu-Scholars Coalition, participated in the organization of the first conference for undocumented students at Sonoma State and the creation of the DREAM Center. During her time as a McNair Scholar and during her graduate studies, Gris's research focused on undocumented students in higher education and their well-being. She is a lifelong learner and continues her education through webinars, conferences, and reading.
