I would like to take a moment and welcome Ricky Calderon as a new EOP Advisor!

Ricky was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He earned his bachelor's degree in Sociology and Spanish and a minor in Women's and Gender Studies from Sonoma State University where he was also a part of the EOP program. He was an active student leader at Sonoma State being involved in Residential Life, Orientation, and EOP - where he was both a summer bridge leader and program intern. Through his various involvements as an undergraduate student, he developed a passion for student affairs and higher education and decided to continue on to graduate school. As a first-generation student himself, he has focused his work and studies on providing access to higher education and supporting and retaining first-generation and low-income students. Most recently, he earned a Master of Education with a major in Education- Student Affairs from Iowa State University. He also worked for the last two years at Iowa State in the Office of Admissions, focusing specifically on multicultural student recruitment.

Ricky is excited to be back at his alma mater and to work with a program that contributed to his growth and success. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, listening to new music, catching up on any new Netflix show, traveling, and going to the beach!

Ricky’s first day is today, Monday, June 4th. Please help me welcome Ricky back to Sonoma State University!
