Housing Resources

Emergency Housing Resource

This program offers free, short-term on-campus housing for students experiencing homelessness or sudden housing insecurity. This service is designed to support students facing immediate and unexpected housing challenges by providing a safe, supportive environment as they work toward securing stable, long-term housing. Stays typically range from 1 to 14 days, not to exceed 30 days, depending on individual circumstances. Parking permits may be provided upon request, but not guaranteed.

Students seeking temporary housing must meet the following supplemental eligibility criteria:

  • Student must be experiencing a current, immediate unexpected housing situation. This can include but is not limited to:
    • sudden displacement from housing
    • living in their car
    • couch surfing
    • temporarily staying with friends or family
    • unable to continue living in their current residence
  • Temporary housing is only available for currently enrolled and matriculated SSU students.
  • Student must search for permanent housing options for the duration of placement.

To access housing, students must complete the BNI Request for Transitional Housing application and meet with the BNI coordinator to access eligibility and develop a personalized housing plan.
