New DREAM Center Coordinator!
I am so pleased to announce that our very own Alma Sanchez has accepted the offer to serve as our new DREAM Center Coordinator!
Alma Sanchez-Carreno was born in Mexico and migrated to the U.S at three years old. She grew up in Sonoma County and attended Santa Rosa Junior College where she received her AA in Social and Behavioral Sciences. Alma transferred to Sonoma State University where she received her BA in Sociology. She is a current graduate student in the MA in School Counseling Program at SSU.
Alma has over six and a half years of experience working with Undocumented students and students of mixed-status families in different capacities both at SRJC and at SSU. Over the last two and a half years, she has enjoyed working at SSU with first generation and low-income students as a PUERTA and CAASE Academic Advisor. Alma has also served as the DREAM Center liaison advisor for the past year. She is excited to be in her new role as the DREAM Center Coordinator to help create more opportunities for Undocumented students, students of mixed-status families and their families. During her free time, she enjoys spending time in nature with her family and friends.
Please join me in welcoming Alma to her new role, which begins Tuesday, 6 July.
